I have done this a hundred times. I know the word- I have read it- I can’t say it though!
I feel your pain! It’s so hard being made fun of constantly for an ancient vocabulary (I hear no one says chums anymore), and then to say it incorrectly adds insult to injury. 😉
I have had this problem numerous times. 😀 Thanks for posting!
Glad to do it! I have found many empathees (I know that’s not a word – but hey, I can pronounce it). 😉
Mine was hyperbole….instead of pronouncing it like it’s meant to be I used to say hyper (like in hyperactive) bowlee….It was embarassing when I realised I was saying it wrong
That’s awesome! I totally mispronounced that word too, but I think my worst faux pas was, ironically, “faux pas”. I hear it’s not pronounced “fox paws”. Talk about irony…;-)
Reblogged this on inspirasilawakfm.
The best part is pronouncing mythological names you read as a kid incorrectly while trying to teach them. -.-
That would indeed undermine your authority as a teacher. 😉 To my shame, I have pronounced “Phoebe” as “Phobe”, and and let’s not even mention Poseidon.
Yep. Had that problem. XD
Does it sound sadistic to say I’m glad I’m not the only one?? Oh, well…I shall say it anyway. 😉
Not at all. I would. 😉
I do that all the time! Its nice to know I’m not the only one.
You are definitely not the only one! Unfortunately for the rest of us…;-)
