About loverofwords20

Allison is an aspiring author, and a lover of words, music, and the Lord Jesus Christ. She is also abysmal at these “about you” things, being unable to think of quirky characteristics at the drop of a hat. However, she enjoys singing randomly and loudly, and laughing hysterically while being caught in the rain.

I have done this a hundred times. I know the word- I have read it- I can’t say it though!

    • I feel your pain! It’s so hard being made fun of constantly for an ancient vocabulary (I hear no one says chums anymore), and then to say it incorrectly adds insult to injury. 😉

I have had this problem numerous times. 😀 Thanks for posting!

  3. Mine was hyperbole….instead of pronouncing it like it’s meant to be I used to say hyper (like in hyperactive) bowlee….It was embarassing when I realised I was saying it wrong

    • That’s awesome! I totally mispronounced that word too, but I think my worst faux pas was, ironically, “faux pas”. I hear it’s not pronounced “fox paws”. Talk about irony…;-)

The best part is pronouncing mythological names you read as a kid incorrectly while trying to teach them. -.-
